On Monday evening we have a general meeting where we have an opportunity to worship our Lord Jesus Christ. We also get a lesson on one of the twelve steps and 8 principles or a testimony from one of the people who has completed the 12 step program. (Some of those are video recrdings). We also have men’s and women’s open share groups. There are lots of opportunities to fellowship and find sponsors and accountability partners.
The real work of recovery is the 12 step groups that meet at a different time. These seperate groups of men and groups of women go through the participant’s guide questions every week for about 8 or 9 months. The questions are part of helping us resolve past hurts by admiting our wrongs, talking about them and becoming willing to forgive those who hurt us and ourselves. It is not easy. But it is easier with a sponsor, accountability partners and a leader who has expereinced victory in their own recovery. This is a commitment to an additional meeting every week.
Groups begin when ever there are enough people (8-10), there is a workable time, day and place to meet. You don’t need sponsor to start but it is essential by the time you start the 4th step to have a sponsor. See the ministry lead or open share lead to let them know you are looking for a step study.
There is also a Celebrate Recovery 12 step group for people who completed one or more step studies called the Journey Continues. Many people in Celebrate Recovery go to a general meeting in one CR and a step study in another CR. Some go to church some where dfferent then their CR group meeting.
